After spending 2 ½ years as the lead singer for the local duo Greene & Hurst, the time came for Todd Hurst to form his own band, continue writing songs, and get back in the spotlight alone. “Ending Greene and Hurst was heartbreaking. JD and I were gaining momentum and had built a decent following in the twin cities area, but life called and we made a decision”

Todd went out and put together one of the city’s best backing bands, using musicians that have played together for 5+ years, meaning the family bond needed to be a successful band was already in place. To start 2014, the band signed an agreement with Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar & Grill in St. Louis Park to be the house band on Wednesday nights for Ladies Night with K102’s Amy James. From there, the band began going back to their roots by playing new material, current, and classic country songs in some of their favorite bars. “The set list we’ve put together allows us to play a small honkey tonk on a Friday night and then turn the amp to 11 for a college bar on a Saturday night, it’s the perfect mix”, said Todd.

Inspired by childhood favorites like George Strait, Garth Brooks, Bob Seger, and Tom Petty to name a few, the future is bright for Todd and his band, The Whiskey Three. “2014 will definitely be a learning year, but I think we have what it takes to go to the next level and I can’t wait to get there”. The band’s energy and love for any crowd is apparent in the work they do on the stage night in and night out.
