War Poetsis a Minneapolis based band that writes and plays music about today’s social issues. War Poets are Jenny Case and Rex Haberman. Their debut album, Dulce et Decorum Est,was released in 2013 and featured songs about marriage equality (Close Enough), cancer recover (No Signs), and social mobility (Deep Blue). For 2014, the band is releasing 3 EPs in digital format starting in June followed by subsequent releases in September and December. The first EP, American Police State, features 3 songs about American gun violence. The single, Better Place, is about income inequality and will be released for radio adds on June 23 nationwide. The second EP is Hot and Cold: American Relationships and the third is Searching for the American Dream. Each EP has 5 original songs composed by War Poets. The new EPs were produced by multi-Grammy winner Joe Baldridge from Nashville and Kevin Bowe from Minneapolis, and were mastered by multi-Grammy winner Richard Dodd from Nashville.
Rex Haberman and Jenny Case began their musical relationship in 2011 when Rex’s longtime songwriter counterpart Matt Kirkwold suggested Jenny become the bassist and vocalist for the new War Poets project. Eventually, the relationship developed into a professional duo that now has toured the USA with a great band lineup, playing at such venues as Whisky A Go Go and the The Viper Room in LA, The National Underground in New York City, and multiple showcases during the SXSW week in Austin.
